Situated amid the Kilsallaghan countryside, Thornton Park Equestrian Centre is home to an array of horsey facilities. In this 45-minute introductory riding class, children aged six to twelve can mount one of the centre's trusted ponies, chosen to match their level of experience, if any. The instructor focuses on building pupils' confidence in the safe environment of an indoor arena, which features a viewing area for parents. The sessions are held in groups of up to seven and begin at 3.45pm on weekdays.

What’s the story behind your riding school?
"It's a purpose-built modern equestrian centre situated on 30 acres of grassland in Kilsallaghan, North Dublin. The facility was designed and developed from a green field site in 1990 to meet our horses' and riders' equestrian needs."
What do you cover in your lessons?
"We specialise in providing qualified tuition for all horse-riding levels, from the nervous beginner to the experienced rider, and for both children and adults. We provide a livery service for horses and ponies, and a variety of career student (BHSAI) and part-time training programmes. We also host regular shows, clinics and workshops."
What facilities does the centre possess?
"An indoor arena measures 75 x 25 metres. We also have two floodlit outdoor arenas and American barn stabling for 50 horses, plus a lunge menage, horse walker and solarium. Additionally, the centre features a lecture room, coffee bar, The Gallery Cafe and on-site accommodation."
What experience do the instructors have?
"Our instructors are BHS qualified, and are experienced in building the confidence of each pupil, regardless of ability level. All our staff have extensive equestrian management skills, and specialise in dressage and showjumping."
