The Cathedral

Towering spires, intricate floor mosaics and dramatic stained glass come together to create the imposing grandeur of Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral. Steeped in history, the Anglican cathedral preserves relics from different eras within its vast stone walls. The location has been used for religious worship since the 7th century as an early monastery, and has since been reconstructed in medieval, classical and Victorian forms. The sound of the building’s great bells can be heard ringing from the north-west tower, some of which have done so since the mid 1700s. Visitors can also browse the on-site gift shop, stocking a range of items unique to the building.
