The Farm

Adults and children alike can make some furry new friends at Red Mountain Open Farm, named after the sizeable hill between the farm and Donore Village. It is believed that the hill was originally dubbed red due to the colour of the sunrise on the morning of the Winter Solstice, but there are plenty of sights to see on the farm itself too. Goats, pigs and other animals features, and visitors can take a ride in a horse drawn cart or towed by a tractor. Younger children can even drive a pedal tractor of their own, before tackling the challenge of the hay maze. Even when weather is bad, there is plenty to do indoors, including a an indoor picnic area, and hot drinks are available to purchase. A family ticket (usually €25) will allow entry for up to five people, and the farm is open at weekends, and daily during the Easter holidays.
