The Hotel
Housed in a former Victorian-style railway station in the central area of the namesake town, Clifden Station House welcomes guests to a cosy setting that combines old architectural touches with modern comforts and leisure facilities, allowing travellers to spend a relaxing break in the coastal area of Co. Galway.
Guests are invited to feel at home, enjoying their stay in spacious, self-contained apartments featuring living area, fully-equipped kitchens, flat-screen TVs and en suite bathrooms.
Those looking for the freshest local produce can visit the hotel’s on-site restaurant, keeping in mind the dining experience is also possible at either of the two bars, Signal Bar and Library Bar.
As to pampering, Clifden Station House boasts a spa and leisure centre featuring state of the art facilities, including swimming pools (one for kids), a hot tub and sauna, as well as a Swedish steam room. A gym is also available for travellers to stay in shape, but guests can also try out one of the many courses on offer: yoga, Pilates, aerobics and more.
Groupon’s Guide to Co. Galway
Replete with ancient vestiges and nature beauties, Co. Galway allures travellers to delve in the vastness and variety of its landscape. It mixes the mildness of the coastal area with the roughness of the landlocked territory in a setting which is home to Ireland’s largest lake, Lough Corrib.
Steeped between the Na Beanna Beola, which is home to the highest peak in the country (Benbaun), Sliabh Echtghe and the coastal region, highlights such as the late medieval Dunguaire and Aughnanure castles, the derelict but now highly popular Glengowla Mines and the 6th-century Clonfert Cathedral reminisce of the county’s past. The puzzling rock formations of the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher add up, but globetrotters should also consider visiting the Inchagoill Island and the Aran Islands in order to get a complete view of the county’s historical and nature assets.
